Future Tense
by Deborah A. Bailey
Did you know that tenses (past, present and future) come in three types: Simple, Perfect and Progressive?
Simple Future - A future state or action; a habitual or repeated action.
We will walk in the park.
We will walk in the park every morning.
Future Perfect - A state or action that will occur before something else occurs, formed by using "have" or "shall have" and a past participle.
He will have walked in the park by the time we arrive.
By April, I will have lived in Canada for three years.
Future Progressive - A state or action that is continuing or in progress, formed by using "will be" or "shall be" and a present participle.
They will be walking in the park all day.
They will be walking in the park tomorrow.
In these examples "walked" and "lived" are past participles. "Walking" is a present participle.
